The tracker that goes in a delivery van goes in a rental unit on the same integration. Position is held against that unit record, beside its serial, its condition history and the reservation it is out on, so the question of where a vehicle is has the same answer as the question of who has it.
Geofencing draws the boundary. A plantation gate, an island, a county line or the streets an LSV is plated for, set per unit or across a fleet. A crossing raises an out-of-zone alert to the office with the vehicle, the renter and the time on it.
For an operator renting carts, LSVs, scooters or coaches, that alert is the whole window in which a problem is still cheap. A vehicle heading somewhere it was never rented to go is recoverable at the moment it crosses the line and expensive by the evening.
Out on hire

Three carts are out on hire, each one reporting into the record that holds the reservation it went out on. All three are inside the zone.
